From time to time some people come along that makes doing this job beyond worth it. Passion, drive, determination, and talent are just a few of the traits you need to make an Edinburgh Fringe show successful. Joseph and Emily who form Evolve Theatre are two people with a misson and who’s work within community theatre is going to set their Edinburgh Fringe show, The Edge, apart. We where very honoured and lucky to be contacted by Evolve Theatre on our Twitter page and we asked the guys for a little bit of history and what we can expect from their Fringe Show.
Evolve Theatre was set up at the end of 2009 to produce work outside of drama school on subjects about which we feel strongly. Based in Berkshire, we are currently studying stage and screen acting at Redroofs College and we are both members of the National Youth Theatre.
Both Joseph and I have been involved extensively in community theatre and recent work at Redroofs includes Three Sisters, Breathing Corpses and the Lion in Winter.

We believe passionately in the power of drama to draw attention to difficult issues. Teenage suicide was an area we felt needed to be highlighted as it is still a subject with which society is uncomfortable. The suicide of my brother’s friend was devastating and the family’s grief was intensified as people, at a loss as to what to say, avoided them. I believe the more the subject is brought out into the open, the more people will be able to talk about it.
Having searched long and hard for the right play we were delighted to find ‘The Edge’ by Fife based Ron Nicol. It is an emotionally charged one act play but there are lighter moments. The theme running throughout is the need for young people to have someone to listen to them. We both know from personal experience how important this is as we have both been subjected to bullying but we were fortunate to have the support of family and friends. We are determined the experience should be used as a positive rather than a negative and it has made us determined to succeed as actors. Others are not so lucky and this is why a service like Childline is vital.

Supporting Childline 2010
We were particularly struck by Childline’s One Voice Campaign as we hadn’t realised that only two thirds of people who phone the helpline are able to get through. Therefore we have decided to donate all money raised from ticket sales to the NSPCC’s Childline Service. We know that Childline is vital to many children and we hope our play will raise money and awareness for Childline. We have been liaising with the Edinburgh Office, who have been so supportive and encouraging.
The Edge by Ron Nicol with be performed between the 6th & 14th August 2010 @ The Spaces, Jury’s Inn Venue 260

Back again this year are the incredible Lady Garden who’s show last year was the talk of the festival with BBC Comedy presents calling them the best UK comedy group of 2009, and we simply loved their show, you can count on us for sure seeing them this year and maybe getting a interview. They are original, creative, and some damn funny ladies, Lady Garden has become a mainstay on the comedy circuit in the UK and their new show this year is bound to have people talking.
