Edinburgh Fringe Interview: RAW – Cabaret

‘This is how the Fringe should be’ (Adelaide Now). Join our heroine as she abandons a comfortable but stagnant existence in search of something else. Naive, but powerfully authentic, this is an honest story of self-discovery.

Australian shows are some of the most popular shows at Edinburgh with a wide variety of acts and RAW joins this wonderful tradition of Australian shows making Ed Fringe their home for August. More information on their show can be found at the end of their interview.

How are things going, you all ready for the Fringe?

Really well thanks. Look, I think I’m as ready as I’ll ever be!

Have you been to the fringe before?

Yes, last year was my first fringe – I was helping produce ‘When the Sex is Gone’ at the Underbelly, but this will be the first fringe I have been in.

Best five words that describe your show?

Jumping in the deep end.

Tell us a bit about your show, what can we expect?

Well It’s about a woman who gets to a point in her life where she is looking for more and the adventures she encounters whilst undergoing this search.

How do you write your show, what inspires you?

I was a told a story a couple of years earlier which stayed with me, but it wasn’t until things shifted in my life, that remnants of that tale became this one.

I would have to say that people’s stories inspire me. You get anyone talking about themselves and what they have to say is fascinating. That and relationships.

What do you think makes the Free Fringe so worthwhile?

The fact that it is SO accessible! People have less to risk by choosing a free show and are therefore more open to it. It is also nice to be a part of something bigger than just you.

What would you want your audience to take from the show?

Whatever they need to at that point in their life. Hopefully entertainment a lighthearted reflection or two.

What advice would you give someone bringing a show to the fringe?

Start now! No, yesterday.
