As you are all well aware, since its done nothing but dominate the airways and newspapers for days, Lost is not only coming to an end but it is also being shown earlier in the UK to that ‘fans in the UK can watch it at the same time in the US’. What a load of bunk! The ratings for lost have, like with its fellow fledging and now cancelled alternative show Heroes, have meant that it was on the way out anyway, and really what is all this crap about.
Am not sure there is any life left in long running series and though some people would argue differently I think the time for long series that run past 4 is really over. Think about it, when you look at some shows you have to take a double look at the figures that show you how many series they have been. Whilst that crap remains on the TV great and worthwhile shows either get neglected or cancelled.
Some of the WORST offenders

OK, The Gilmore Girls, Scrubs, Two and a Half Men, According to Jim, & The Office US…these, much like a sick and crippled horse, need to be shot. Yet bang goes Arrested Development, Pushing Daisies classics, well written and in PD’s case incredibly shot, yet cancelled.
One of the main problems that they face is that the ‘star’ now see’s TV as a welcome push into the movies, look at any new ‘movie star’ and you will still see the on TV. The latest we are forced to sit through is Tracy Morgan (star of 30 Rock) and Steve Carrell. Neither that good on the small screen but now we have to endure them in the cinema as well. As for Carrell he is not going to be renewing his Office contract with NBC even though the show has remained rather popular in the US (even though in the UK the series lasted only 2). He’s busy pushing out the same old type of generic comedies that a dead dog being eaten by hungry cats could give better justice to.
There is a trend in that. TV actors gain their popularity via the TV and the movie industry not wanting to waste much money doing PR and promotion sees this a cheap offering. So a whole host of tatty and worthless TV actors get promoted to the world of film even though they have almost no control over the experience. But Hollywood is a land of double standards and if your a older star, male or female, and your time in the films has peaked then you can enter the world of TV Producing or guest acting.
You only have to look at Tom Hank’s CV recently and that of the former sex icon Sharon Stone, four episodes in Law and Order SVU. And last year James Franco, Golden Globe award winner, movie actor, model for Gucci, stirred the Hollywood gossip mill when he agreed to appear in General Hospital – that would be like Vanessa Redgrave appearing in Casualty. And then there is Adam Baldwin who has has something of a rebirth in TV with is multi-award winning role in 30 Rock.
Lost and other shows like it are bound to come to an end due to the masses that is available in the box and with the internet and pirating being such a high industry people are now unable or unwilling to wait for the next offering…we have be the main culprit in this…but Steve Carrell a Hollywood actor, please.
