Few people have doubted that this could work but Russian composer Vladimir Jurowski means as truly open up classical music for a new and younger generation. Tomorrow night he will be conducting in Camden’s world famous Roundhouse venue which has been more of a pop venue than classical.
The likes of Jay-Z and legendary artist Jimmy Hendrix have graced the stage and now they make room for Beethoven. The show kicks off at 9pm and is going to something of a first for classical music, and purists may find the whole experience a little daunting. This is the first of a ‘rules frees concert series that allows the audience to move about, talk, and drink just as they would if Jay-Z was on stage.
Jurowski has said of the shows that ‘formalities must be shattered to open up classical music to a younger audience.’ We couldn’t agree more and are looking forward to being part of this most unique night.
Tickets are between £7 & £15 and the show starts at 9pm.
